The Chairperson of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Bekasi Raya expressed his views related to the use of an unexpected expenditure budget (BTT) by the Bekasi City Government in dealing with the impact of the natural disaster that hit the region recently.
The Chairperson of PWI Bekasi Raya, Ade Muksin, appreciated the quick steps taken by the Bekasi City Government in allocating BTT funds for flood management.
According to him, the use of BTT focused on providing emergency assistance, evacuation of victims, and the recovery of basic infrastructure is on the right path.
"We appreciate the rapid response from the Bekasi City Government in utilizing the BTT budget for the needs of urgent people affected by flooding. This shows the alertness in responding to an emergency situation that does require quick action, "said Ade.
However, he also gave constructive criticism related to transparency and effectiveness of the use of BTT funds. He stressed the importance of information disclosure to the public so that every budget used can be well monitored by the community and ensure that the funds are really on target.
"We hope that the Bekasi City Government can be more transparent in publishing the details of the use of this BTT budget. Has the funds have reached the affected community? Is the distribution process effective and efficient? This is what needs to be confirmed and conveyed clearly to the public, "he added.
In addition, the Chairperson of PWI Bekasi Raya emphasized the need for the Bekasi City Government to improve the long -term disaster management system.
"We want to see a long -term plan from the Bekasi City Government in overcoming flood problems that are a scourge for the community every year. The BTT budget should be used also for better infrastructure prevention and improvement programs, "he concluded.
The Chairperson of PWI Bekasi Raya emphasized that he would continue to oversee policies related to the use of BTT budgets and invite all elements of the community and the media to participate in overseeing that these policies could provide optimal benefits for the citizens of Bekasi City.
