Roro Port Mengkan in Tanjung Buton, Siak Regency, Riau, officially operates again on Sunday (9/3). This launch marks the start of the Tanjung Buton strategic crossing service to Siak to Batam which is expected to accelerate the mobility of goods and passengers between regions.
In the inauguration ceremony, there was a Head of Riau Class II Land Transportation Management Agency (BPTD), Muttaqin St.M.Mtr, Wasatpel Roro Port Mengkan Ajie Panatagama ATD .MT. He asserted that this port is a strategic step in increasing connectivity and reducing logistics costs in Riau.
"With the re -operation of the Roro Port of Mengkan, we hope that the distribution of goods and public transportation will be more efficient. This is our commitment to support regional economic growth," Ajie Panatagama said in his statement
Previously, the trip from Batam to Tanjung Buton had to be reached by longer land routes or using other more expensive modes of transportation. With the Roro ship from Telaga Punggur to Mengkan, the trip becomes faster, cheaper, and comfortable.
This port is now a mainstay for logistics industry players, entrepreneurs, and the general public who need better transportation access.
An expedition driver, Junaidi (42), welcomed the operation of this port. "In the past, the trip was longer and expensive. Now, with this Roro, shipping goods finished faster and more economically," he said.
This crossing service uses KMP ships. Citra Mandala Abadi, which is scheduled to operate four times a week with the following departure time:
From Telaga Punggur, Batam: At 17.00 WIB
Arriving at Mengkingan, Siak: At 11.00 WIB the next day
Crossing rates remain competitive and affordable:

Two -wheeled vehicles (group II): Rp296,900
Four -wheeled vehicles (group IV): Rp1,948,700
People can buy tickets directly at the port or through online services, which are prepared for easy access.
The operation of the Roro Mengkan Port is expected to encourage economic growth in the trade, tourism and logistics sectors. The government also ensures that this port will continue to be developed by increasing facilities, navigation systems, and increasing the number of trips if demand increases.
Ajie Panatagama asserted that his party would continue to conduct operational monitoring and evaluation so that services run optimally.
"We are ready to improve services and ensure connectivity runs smoothly. This is part of our efforts in building better transportation in Riau," he said.
